Nippon PILLAR

Nippon Pillar traces its roots to 1924, when it made the first semi-metallic cylindrical packing for steamboats. Over more than 80 years it has grown from ship gland packing into gaskets, mechanical seals, and fluororesin products used in semiconductor manufacturing.

The company says it contributes to environmental protection through its sealing technology. Its name comes from its 1924 patented pillar-shaped packing.

Mechanical Seals

Cartridge seals (such as the Pillar Cassette Seal, code AEU80-KEQ72) install in four steps and come with an integrated spring retainer and sleeve. Non-cartridge options include the unbalanced O-ring multi-spring seal (AAU10), the dry gas seal (PPG-1R) for blowers and compressors, and the G1-FL end-face rubber seal for flocculators.

  • Unbalanced Type Rotary Seal (AAU10)
  • Pillar Phoenix-Seal Dynamic Pressure Dry Gas Seal (PPG-1R)
  • G1 Series Seal (G1-FL)

Gaskets

Sheet gaskets (No. 5611) are made of inorganic and aramid fibers with a rubber binder. Spiral wound gaskets (No. 2302) use a PTFE filler for chemical resistance. Semi-metallic and metallic gaskets include the 6815DJ graphite yarn packing, which tolerates high heat and fits dresser joints.

Gland Packings

For rotating equipment, the No. 426 ramie packing is a lubricated braided packing often used as a stern tube shaft seal. For valves, the No. 6528 carbon fiber adapter packing handles very high pressures and a wide pH range. The No. 6300 live loading seal unit uses spring pressure to keep packing tight, which reduces maintenance.
